ဒီကနေ့တော့ ကြံကြံဖန်ဖန် အင်္ဂလိပ်တစ်ယောက်၊ ထိုင်းတစ်ယောက်၊ တရုတ်နှစ်ယောက်၊ မလေးတစ်ယောက်နဲ့ စကားစပ်မိစပ်ရာပြောရင်း နာမည်တွေပြောင်းတဲ့ အကြောင်းရောက်သွားရော။ မင်းဘယ်က ငါဘယ်ကနဲ့ပြောရင်း ကိုယ်ကတော့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံကနေလာတယ်လို့ ပြောမိတယ်။ တရုတ်ပြည်မကလာတဲ့ တရုတ်က မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ ဘယ်နားမှန်းမသိဘူး အူလည်လည်ဖြစ်နေတယ် ထိုင်းကလူက ငါ့နိုင်ငံနဲ့ အနောက်ဘက်ကပ်လျက်လို့ ပြောပြန်လည်း ထိုင်းလည်း မြေပုံပေါ်ဘယ်နားမှန်း သူသိပုံမပေါ်ဘူး။ အင်္ဂလိပ်က အရင်က ဘားမားလို့ခေါ်တယ်လို့ ပြောပြန်တော့လည်းမသိပြန်ဘူး ဘယ်လိုရှင်းရှင်းမရတော့ အကုန်လက်လျော့လိုက်ရတယ်။
ဘားမားနဲ့စကားစပ်မိလို့ မလေးနှစ်ယောက်က နာမည်ပြောင်းတာနဲ့ ပတ်သက်ပြီးတော့ မင်းဘယ်လိုခံစားပါသလဲတဲ့။ ပြန်ရှင်းရပြန်တယ် ငါကတော့ လူမျိုးက ဗမာလူမျိုးဆိုတော့ ဘားမားလည်း ငါ့အဖို့ကတော့ဘာမှမဖြစ်ဘူး တစ်ခြားလူမျိုးတွေ အနေနဲ့ကတော့ မဟာဗမာဆိုပြီး လက်ဝါးကြီးအုပ်ထားတယ်လို့ ပြောစရာခံစားစရာ ဖြစ်နိုင်တယ် ဒါ့ကြောင့် ဘုံနာမည်အဖြစ် တရားဝင်ပြောင်းလိုက်တယ်လို့ ငါယူဆတယ် နာမည်ပြောင်းရုံနဲ့ ပြေလည်မည့်ကိစ္စမဟုတ်ပေမယ့် နာမည်ကို ပြောင်းတာကတော့ ငါ့အနေနဲ့တော့ မကျေနပ်စရာမရှိပါဘူးလို့ ပြန်ပြောရတယ်။
အင်္ဂလိပ်က နာမည်ပြောင်းတုံးက ဒို့နိုင်ငံကကန့်ကွက်ဖူးတယ်လို့ ကြားဖူးတယ်တဲ့။ ဟုတ်ပါတယ် ဒါပေမယ့် ဒို့နိုင်ငံနာမည် ဒို့ဟာဒို့ပြောင်းတာ မင်းတို့ဘာမှလုပ်လို့မရဘူး ကန့်ကွက်လည်း အကျိုးမရှိဘူး မြန်မာလို့ခေါ်မယ်လို့ ကုလသမဂ္ဂမှာလည်း ပြင်လိုက်တယ်လို့ ပြန်ပြောတော့ အင်္ဂလိပ်က ဟုတ်ပါတယ်တဲ့ မင်းတို့ဟာမင်းတို့ နာမည်ပြောင်းတာ မင်းတို့အခွင့်အရေးပါ ငါကဖြစ်ခဲ့တာကို ပြောပြတာပါတဲ့ ဘာကြောင့် သွားကန့်ကွက်သလဲ ငါလည်းစဥ်းစားမရပါဘူးလို့ ပြောရှာပါတယ်။ ထိုင်းကတစ်ယောက်ကလည်း ငါတို့လည်း အရင်က ဆိုင်ယမ်ကနေ ထိုင်းလန်း လို့ပြောင်းခဲ့တာပဲ ကိုယ့်ဟာကိုယ်ပြောင်းတာ ပြောင်းပေါ့ဘာဖြစ်သလဲတဲ့။
စလုံးတရုတ်တစ်ယောက်က အဲဒါပြီးတော့ တစ်ခြားနာမည်တွေလည်း အကုန်ပြောင်းတယ်မဟုတ်လားတဲ့။ လူတောင်အူကြောင်ကြောင်းဖြစ်တယ် ဟမ်… ဘာတွေပြောင်းသေးလို့လဲလို့ မေးတော့ ရန်ဂွန်းကနေ ရန်ကုန်လို့ တစ်ခြားမြို့နာမည်တွေ ပြောင်းလိုက်တယ်လေတဲ့။ အဲဒီတော့ရှင်းပြရတယ် အဲဒါက ပြောင်းတာမဟုတ်ဘူး အမှန်ပြင်တာ ဒို့လူမျိုး ရန်ဂွန်းလို့ ဘယ်တော့မှမခေါ်ဘူး ရန်ကုန်လို့ပဲခေါ်တယ် အင်္ဂလိပ်က မထွက်တတ်ပဲ လျောက်ပေါင်းလို့ ရန်ဂွန်းဖြစ်နေတာ။ တစ်ခြားမှားနေတာတွေရှိတယ် မော်လမြင်း ကို မော်လမြိုင် ပရုန်းကို ပြည် စသည်ဖြင့် ဒို့ခေါ်သလိုမှန်အောင် ပြင်လိုက်တာ ပြောင်းတာမဟုတ်ဘူး လွဲနေလို့ ပြင်လိုက်တာ ငါတို့စကားကို ငါတို့အတတ်ဆုံးပါ အင်္ဂလိပ်ရေးချင်ရာ ရေးထားခဲ့တာကို ဒီအတိုင်း မထားနိုင်ဘူးလို့ ပြောလိုက်ရတယ်။
အဲဒါဆိုရင် အရင်နာမည်အဟောင်းတွေ ခေါ်မိရင်မင်းတို့ စိတ်ဆိုးပါသလားတဲ့ အတွန့်တက်ပြီးမေးကြပြန်ရော။ မင်းတို့ဟာမင်းတို့ ဘယ်လိုခေါ်ခေါ် ဘယ်သူမှတော့ စိတ်ဆိုးစရာတော့ မရှိပါဘူး မင်းတို့မှအမှန်မထွက်တတ်ပဲ ငါတို့လည်း မင်းတို့မြို့နာမည်တွေ မှန်အောင်မထွက်တတ်ဘူး ကုန်ကုန်ပြောရရင် ရထားဘူတာနာမည်တွေ ငါမှန်အောင်တောင် မပြောတတ်ဘူးဆိုတော့ စလုံးတရုတ်ကရယ်တယ်။ ငါတို့နာမည်ပြောင်းတွေ နာမည်ပြင်တယ်ဆိုတာ နိမ့်ကျတဲ့စကားလုံးဖြစ်လို့ ပြောင်းတာပြင်တာမှမဟုတ်တာ စိတ်ဆိုးစရာတော့မရှိပါဘူး။ ဒါပေမယ့် တရားဝင်ပြောင်းပြီးဖြစ်လို့ တရားဝင်စကားပြောတဲ့အခါ အရေးအသားသုံးနှုံးတဲ့အခါမှာတော့ မင်းတို့အမှားသုံးနှုံးခွင့်မရှိဘူးလို့ ပြောလှတ်လိုက်တယ်။
အကို ကမ်းဟေးကြီးကို လူပျိုကြီးလို့ မှားခေါ်မိရင် စိတ်တော့ မဆိုးပေမယ့် မှားပြီးဆက်ခေါ်ခွင့် မရှိဘူးလို့ ပြောချင်တာလား ကမ်းလူပျိူဟေးကြီး ခင်ည။

In Asia,
Siam -> Thailand
Nippon -> Japan
Ceylon -> Sri Lanka
Kampuchea -> Cambodia
West Bengal -> Bangladesh
Ok. This issue is caused by ignorance of people.
It can be argued that Burma has to be changed to Myanmar because Burma is the name of Bamar people and does not represent the all ethnic groups of the union. However, the proponents of this change do not seem to be aware that there is a word in English for Bamar ethnic group which is Burman. And the citizens of Burma is called Burmese, not Burman.
So, in my opinion , the word Burma is the true name for this country. If you want to argue that this violates union spirit, you will have to show me an example of the union spirit practiced by the current regime.
Besides , the word Myanmar is associated with bad things and the word Burma is mostly associated with the glory days of the union.
I don't blame the proponents of the change. They are the victims of mis-education by the military. I guess we have to straighten a lot of things regarding history and ethnic issues. Thanks for reading this comment.
Ok. This is caused by the ignorance of the people.
The proponents of the change will argue that the name Burma has to be changed to Myanmar because it is the name of one of the ethnic group , Bamar, and does not represent all ethnic group of the union. However, they do not seem to be aware that there is an English name for Bamar ethnic group which is Burman. The citizens of Burma are called Burmese , not Burman. How do you call the citizens of Myanmar? Myanmar, Myanmarese, Myanmarean, Myanmarish,…..? I guess the enlightened generals forgot to coin the name of the citizens when they change the name of the country. There are also funny names such as Myanma Electric Power Enterprise. What is the meaning of the word "Myanma" ?
Besides, the name Myanmar is associated with bad things and the name Burma is mostly associated with good things. The days under the name of Burma were the days the citizens of the union enjoyed prestige and pride. There is no such things associated with the name Myanmar.
Burma = the most prosperous country in SEA + leading exporter of rice + Homeland of UN Sec Gen etc……..
Myanmar = one of the poorest countries in the world + leading exporters of narcotics + Homeland of plethora of refugees etc……..
As for the representing the all ethnic groups of the union, I don't think that was what they had in mind when they changed the name. It seems a bit absurd to me for the idea to come out from the people who have done nothing but to oppress the non-Burmans.
I don 't blame the proponents of the change as they are the victims of mis-education by the military . We have to straighten out a lot of things regarding ethnic issues in Burma.
